Oh, no doubt I had a hand in my own destruction.  I just don't know 
how.  Or which part of what I did introduced the resident evil.  I 
installed some new software, and cannibalized Matt's old computer 
for its 3D video card and extra RAM before it went to Becky.  He got 
a new one recently.  And for mother's day, Joe (and his father) got 
me a seventeen-inch monitor to replace the 15" one I had.  All of 
that hit the computer at about the same time.  Everything seemed to 
be working.  And then . . . CRASH!

<shrug>  I used to have the black thumb -- every plant I touched 
died.  Now I could grow roses in the desert, but the death touch 
seems to have moved to my technological endeavors.
