Apple tried that a couple years ago - almost killed the company by
frittering away one of the few sources of revenue they still had.

Now, there's no doubt that Apple's been mismanaged lately - they wouldn't
have made money selling space heaters to Eskimos. However, they seem to
have done a 180 degree turn in the last year, with their new policies and
hardware like the iMac... lord knows that software companies are signing up
with Apple like never before.
