Some observations:

- Everyone's definitions of polite behaviour are different, especially in a
geographically and socially diverse group such as this.

- The 'net has yet to develop a strict code of behaviour. There are some
guidelines for extreme behaviour, but most problems happen in relatively
  normal discourse.

- Despite strong english programs in schools, most people are poor writers
  (myself included).

This list *is* one of the best of those I'm subscribed to; no-one here is
deliberately belligerent. Trust me on this one; I've seen some pretty
offensive characters over the decades.

I think you can safely assume that if someone has written something that you
consider rude or offensive, it is *not* intended, but simply a matter of
style.

That's my $0.02 (CDN).
