Thing I picked up from doing a bunch of sugar-cleansing stuff out of my diet
ages ago...much pain and gnashing of teeth ensued at the time (trust me).
Think about it like this: Carrots are the way that the plant stores its
natural sugars and energy.
If you're growing your own carrots, if you want them sweeter, leave them in
the ground until the frost (this is for later sown carrots as opposed to
early ones). The frost will make the plant turn the carbs in the carrot
into sugars, for it to survive on...that's how you get the super-sweet
carrots.
