So far so good. I'm about 20 or so chapters in. Ry's mother is really really
evil you know that? And Ry's rather arrogant but I too am drawn to him. I'm
not going to rave or make specific references yet. Don't think that that would
be nice to my fellow listers. If you want specifics let me know and I'll do a
spoiler space thing. I hope to finish it by Friday. I'm off again then so I
should be able. I might go back and read Diplomacy again except I have about 5
books going right now. Ugh. Has anybody else read Rhapsody? Thoughts?

I don't know if you're using the tatoo I described but if you are my ankle
should definately break when I die. For that matter I usally wear or have one
or two of the glass blue eyes around. I could die in a shower of blue & white
glass. More fodder for my greatness ( or evilness!)

You shouldn't feel like a heel. You should be proud. That's one of the things
about good fantasy. When an author creates characters that are really good, a
person wants to keep them around. Wants to know about even their everyday
boring life. That suspension of disbelief gets so strong that a reader just
knows that there is more to be told. I think that holds true for good fiction
in any genre but somehow fantasy readers are more demanding. There's no hope
that we'll run across this in the "real world" the way that even mystery and
romance could potentially happen. And regular fiction more often than not draws
on real life experiences so it's much easier to suspend disbelief and even try &
"make it happen". So that's where these plaintive whines come from. We know
that if you stop we'll never get to see Kait again. Well except in rereads.
And there are characters that you can reread & reread. I've read Fire in the
Mist 3-4 times and Minerva Wakes I don't know how many times. It's a comfort
book. Sort of like DragonSong. Which believe me is a high compliment:)
There I go gushing again. But I know what I've clumsily said is very true.
I've seen it in hundreds of pairs of eyes when a customer or a friend talks
about a book that truly moves them.
One last thing. Are you going to do any book tours? I know it's unlikely that
you'll ever do a NC tour but if you ever do I'm officially begging you to come
to my store. I understand why you can't but I wish that you could.
Now, stop writing for a little while, we can wait, and go outside and enjoy this
absolutely positively gorgeous weather that at least we in Raleigh are having
today.
:)hugs
