Good gods, that's lousy business practice.

Bob?  Suggestion?  Write them (not email, preferably), explaining that they
*have* lost you as a customer and exactly why.  It may have simply been a
mistake, or it may have been someone inside their company not having the
requisite clues.  If you don't let them know, they can't try to remedy the
situation.

Not suggesting that you do business with them again, but bitching to the
source has always been effective for me, if nothing else than for sources of
closure and amusement.

As for alternatives, while I love shopping in stores, I don't always get the
time to do so.  I *live* in front of my computer <sigh>, so chapters.ca has
been getting a fair chunk of my business and I've never had problems with
them....
