I didn't know how much I forgot till I had to relearn it to keep up with Anna. Then there is the little detail that I didn't do Algebra till high school and Anna is about to start algebra at 9y/o.(10 in august) Clearly she will surpass me, luckily Marcello is 99.9 percentile in math so that's going to save us. He's doing math and science, I'm working on the rest. Though honestly we are changing our methods a lot this coming year. This year we tried a set curriculum and that worked better than public school but not as well as we had hoped so next year we will be doing more of a unit approach. For writing Anna has developed a series of fairy stories (She wants to make it a kids book) but recently started struggling and I think we will make it more of a unit involving art to help her visualize her stories. She seems to like 3 dimensional art rather than drawing or painting, so we will likely be making clay characters and painting backdrops for her to put them in. Our plan for Reading is loosening a bit...from a reading program to just read good books and lots of them. The science she has chosen for next year is Chemistry, Astronomy and Geology. The math will be algebra and what ever math she needs for the above science. There's more but you get the general idea I'm sure. Did you work with ready made curriculum, units or unschool or classical training? Wow Your kids sound great! I can't believe the youngest is in 5th already! My form of working from home involves a lot of homeschool and housework with a little work for Marcello on the translation business. I don't do any translation but there is invoices and the other stuff that comes with a home based business. the rest of the stuff I do is because I seem to have "Sucker" tattooed on my forehead. LOL! Yes I'm a sucker for a cause but I do want Anna to grow up knowing that you help where you can and when you can and having compassion for people that need help. -----Original Message----- From: holly-l-bounces at solaris.cc.vt.edu [mailto:holly-l-bounces at solaris.cc.vt.edu]On Behalf Of Holly Lisle Sent: Friday, April 04, 2008 10:10 AM To: Holly Lisle Mailing List Subject: Re: [Holly-L] New Member (to be) That's really good to hear, Kathy.
